Genuine Mahogany

Genuine Mahogany goes by many names, not to be confused with cheaper imitations such as Philippine Mahogany. Genuine Mahogany or Swietenia Macrophylla is considered to be the real and true species when referring to ‘Mahogany’. Included in CITES II, as its beauty and phenomenal stability has made this lumber widely used now regulated to certified sustainable sources.

Sourcing Region: South America Plantation Sourcing

Color, Pattern, Texture: Pale pinkish brown to dark reddish brown, it has a medium texture and straight or interlocking grain

Common Uses and Applications: Furniture, cabinetry, veneers, musical instruments, and boatbuilding

Working Properties: Most often very easy to work with tools, may cause a slight dulling of cutters, and it sands very easily, turns, glues, stains, and finishes well. For this, we offer a wide selection of Amana tools to help you work with hardwoods such as Genuine Mahogany
